Satisfies ANSI Standards
In addition to the valuable labor-saving and customer satisfying benefits of this new product, Horton is addressing current ANSI standards for Power Operated Pedestrian Doors with the introduction of the new, fully compliant C3150 Slide Door Control and with the release of a new Sensor Monitoring Board (SMB) to upgrade existing C2150 units. The revised ANSI A156.10-2017 standards, are designed to ensure added safety for pedestrians. This means more sophisticated sensor monitoring technologies, either through new installations or upgrades of existing automatic control units.
Here are some highlights of the revised ANSI A156.10-2017 standards:
- Added presence sensor monitoring. Automatic sliding, swinging and folding door systems shall include a means to verify the interface between the door control system and each presence sensor. A detected fault shall cause automatic operation to cease until the fault is corrected.
- Added mat monitoring. Automatic sliding, swinging and folding door systems shall include a means to verify each safety control mat’s functionality, and the interface between the door control system and each safety control mat. Again, a detected fault shall cause automatic operation to cease until the fault is corrected.
- Is compliance mandatory? It is not mandatory to include presence sensor/mat monitoring on door systems installed prior to the publication of this standard revision. However, compliance with the new standards on existing installations may be determined by applicable local building codes.
