Fire Door Inspections That Keep You Ready for the Fire Marshal
A fire door inspection checks each fire-rated door assembly, on both sides, to confirm it will close and latch in a fire. NFPA 80 is the National Fire Protection Association's standard for fire doors and other opening protectives. What's Included in Your Fire Door Inspection
Both Sides of Every Opening
NFPA 80 requires both sides of swinging fire doors to be inspected and tested. We do that for every fire-rated opening. We check the door and door frame, the closer, and the guides and tracks. We also check door clearances, smoke seals and the fire rating label. And we look for anything blocking the door from closing on its own.
A visual inspection is only part of the job. We also make sure each door closes and latches the way it should in a fire.

Fire Door Inspection Certification and Who Can Inspect Your Doors
NFPA 80 doesn't name one required fire door inspection certification. It asks for a qualified person who understands how the door's operating components work. Some fire door inspectors also hold a certification earned through industry training and an exam. Either way, you can ask any inspector for proof of qualifications before work begins.
